How Transfer Students Can
Request a Waiver
for English 110/111
The Freshman English office at the
1.
A current transcript (unofficial is
acceptable).
2.
A Transfer Credit Evaluation, available on
PeopleSoft or from the Admission’s office.
3.
Samples of the student’s writing. These samples should be thesis-driven,
provide extensive, detailed analysis and discussion of text(s), and present
textual evidence following the guidelines of any major citation style (APA,
MLA, CMS). Individual examples of
student work should be at least five double-spaced pages in length.
Upon receipt of this information, one of the Co-Directors of Freshman English—Drs. Thomas Recchio or Sarah Winter—will review your material. Should you be granted a waiver, the information will be processed via PeopleSoft through the Freshman English office. Waivers are usually reviewed weekly during the semester, but less frequently during summer and winter break.
You may deliver your waiver applications to the Freshman English office in person, or you can submit by fax or mail. At this time, we do not accept email submissions.
